Polarized sunglasses beyond UV protection

A polarized lens protects you from harmful UV rays and eliminates the majority of glare (strong bright light). By adding a special film / filter that blocks strong glare, the lens prevents it from penetrating the eye. Ordinary tinted sunglass lenses will just reduce down on ambient light that reaches the eye, or, light transmittance. By their very nature, they cannot block glare.

What Polarized lens color should I select?

Aside from professional sportsman, the majority of us usually select our lens colors based on pure aesthetic reasons. Polarized lens colors have significant importance when it comes to performance and not all colors excel at the same task.

Gray Polarized lenses. Dark Gray polarized lenses will perform best for driving, fishing (and water sport), and other general use. They are great for sunny days or strong glare situations.

Brown Polarized lenses. If you require higher color separation, eyeglasses with brown polarized lenses will be your choice. While dark brown does not shade as good as gray it does better at contrast. Lenses with this polarized color will perform their best when you: golf, hike, drive and fish (better for shallow water sport), especially for days with intermittent clouds or semi-shaded areas.

Green Polarized lenses, known for their good color balance and do better with contrast when compared with gray. These lenses will do well as an all-purpose lens, driving, playing tennis or golf and variable light conditions.
