Multicoating Laboratory

An anti-scratch coating can lengthen the life of your lenses, while hydrophobic coatings keep dust, oil, rain, snow and fog at bay.

AR Coating

Anti-reflective coating (AR coating or anti-glare coating) is a microscopically thin multi-layer coating that eliminates reflections from the front and back surface of eyeglass lenses. By doing so, AR coating makes your lenses nearly invisible so people can focus on your eyes, not distracting reflections from your eyeglasses.

With reflections eliminated, lenses with AR coating provide better vision for night driving and more comfortable vision for reading and computer use. AR coating is highly recommended for all eyeglass lenses, but particularly for poly carbonate and high-index lenses, which reflect more light than regular glass or plastic lenses if anti-reflective coating is not applied. In sun lenses AR coating is usually applied to the back surface of the lens to eliminate the annoying reflections of the lenses from the back surface due to any light source behind the wearer. AR coating improves light transmission through the lenses for night driving and helps photochromic lenses reduce glare in bright sunlight.

Benefits

Anti-reflective coating reduces glare and halos around lights at night and eliminates unattractive reflections on your lenses

One of the main advantage is cosmetic perks. When you use AR coatings, you’ll look better because people won’t see the reflections in your prescription glasses, increasing the visibility of your eyes. As a result, you’ll have enhanced eye contact with others and won’t be hampered by irritating reflections. This makes it ideal for people who do a lot of public speaking, as it can make public speakers and others in the limelight appear more photogenic.

Anti-reflective coatings can give you sharper and clear vision which is more natural and brilliant than what’s offered with uncoated lenses.

They provide more durability as they last longer than regular lenses. They’re exceptionally resistant to scratches and does an excellent job in resisting water and dirt.

Additionally, AR coatings help in reducing eye fatigue at work. They are especially suited for people who spend long hours working on computers, which can cause considerable eye strain. But when you use an anti-reflective coating, your eyes are protected against glare, meaning eye strain is less.

Besides using them for computer work, they’re helpful when watching television as they help reduce eye fatigue. The anti-glare coating eliminates the light that can cause eyes to become tired.

AR coatings can also improve the night vision.
